Elusive Memories
Echoes of Place
- 50 x 50 cm
I created Echoes of Place as an abstract reflection on the way places remain in our memory even when their details begin to disappear. I was interested in that feeling of remembering a place not as a clear image, but through fragments of colour, light, texture and atmosphere. The painting is built around pale blue and powder blue tones, soft blush and dusty pink, muted lavender, ivory and warm grey, with deeper burgundy, red and reddish brown appearing through the lower layers. These colours create a balance between the cool, airy upper part of the painting and the richer, more intense passages below. I worked with layered brushstrokes, scraping, overlapping marks and exposed areas of canvas. The textured surface allows earlier layers to remain visible, creating a sense of depth and fragments emerging and disappearing at the same time. The forms suggest traces of architecture, reflections, distant structures and landscape, but I did not want to describe a specific place. Instead, I wanted to capture the emotional impression that remains after the actual image has faded. For me, Echoes of Place is about memory, atmosphere and the fragments of places that stay with us long after we have left them.

Perception. Original Textured Abstract Painting, Contemporary Art Perception is an original abstract painting that reflects the way we experience the world. The work evolved through many transformations, much like perception itself. It is rooted in personal impressions, fragments of memories, fleeting moments, places once seen, and emotions that remained long after the moment had passed. The palette was chosen intuitively and continued to transform throughout the creative process until it found its own natural balance. Rather than depicting a specific place or memory, the painting explores how perception gradually shapes, distills, and reassembles our inner landscape. An interesting feature of this work is that it can be displayed in multiple orientations. Whether hung vertically, horizontally, or rotated, the composition remains balanced, inviting the viewer to discover a different reading from each perspective. Finished with a protective satin varnish.

Elusive Memories
- 70 x 70 cm
I created Elusive Memories as an exploration of the way memories appear and disappear in our minds. Some memories remain vivid, while others seem almost within reach before slipping away again. I wanted to capture that uncertain space between remembering and forgetting. I worked with a soft palette of pale grey, warm beige, dusty pink, muted blue and subtle earthy tones. Layered brushstrokes, partially concealed marks and fragments of darker colour create a sense of movement and depth. Some forms emerge clearly, while others remain blurred or partially hidden, allowing the viewer to discover different connections within the composition. This contemporary abstract painting reflects my interest in abstract expressionism, memory, emotion and the visual tension between presence and absence. I deliberately left parts of the surface open and unresolved, allowing the painting to retain a sense of movement and possibility. Elusive Memories is an original contemporary abstract artwork created with acrylic and mixed painting techniques on canvas. Its neutral, sophisticated palette makes it suitable for both modern and minimalist interiors.
